Bird watching
Laikipia is a bird watchers paradise and there are over 150 species in the conservation area. The most common species here are some of the most spectacular. In the raptor department Martial eagle, Verreaux’s eagle, Bateleur, and Eastern pale chanting goshawk abound, and often provide close company at sundowner drinks. The guides are well experienced, friendly and here to show you the diversity of birds in their special area.
Game drives
Ol-lentille Sanctuary offers day and night private game drives and you are likely to see lots of elephant as well as a mix of plains game – if you are lucky you might spot leopard and wild dog.
Walking safaris
A walks in the local area gives you an opportunity to learn about the smaller things that can be missed when you are in a car. Guided by Samburu and Maasai warriors this is a very special journey into their ancient lands.
Quad biking
You can quad bike from the lodge to the local Maasai village, technology meets tradition. Only for guests 16 or over
Bush meals in stunning locations
You might have a stunning bush dinner under the vast starry African skies, or a picnic lunch by the river. Meals out in the wilderness are really memorable, special and connect you to the stunning landscape.
Sundowners
As the sun sets over the vast wilderness you will be rewarded with stunning views and sunsets over the local area. Your favourite drinks are served cold with the backdrop of our wonderful and panoramic views.

Accommodation at Ol Lentille Sanctuary

The Sanctuary at Ol Lentille consists of four private houses, each of which are taken on an exclusive basis and come fully staffed and with a private guide and game vehicle. The houses are different sizes so there is a house to suit every need.

Chief’s House

It has three double bedrooms, sitting and dining rooms, and kitchen. The sitting room has a charming open fire, as well as a plunge-pool on the outdoor deck. Each bedroom has a dressing room and bathroom. The master bedroom has a large outdoor bath set in the rocks for candlelight bathing under the stars.

Sultan’s House

The house has one enormous double bedroom, a huge sitting/dining room, a kitchen and two bathrooms. The space of this house is such that it can be converted to provide a second (childrens’) bedroom.

The Colonel’s House

With brass-bound furniture, oriental carpets, and a beautiful “Knole” sofa in front of an open fire you can feel a connection with a bygone era of comfort and style. The house has two double bedrooms, sitting and dining rooms, and kitchen. Each bedroom has a dressing room, shower and a sunken bath. There is a courtyard for outdoor dining, featuring a plunge-pool.

The Eyrie

The Eyrie has one en-suite bedroom, sitting room with open fire, dining room, deck and kitchen. It is seductively furnished. The circular bedroom has a gigantic round bed, and it is but a few steps to your own secluded outdoor double rock bath with views over our rugged hills to the deserts of the north.

How to get to Ol Lentille Sanctuary

By road: Sanctuary at Ol Lentille is located in northern Kenya’s spectacular Laikipia region. From Nanyuki to Ol Lentille takes about 1-hour 30-minutes.
By air: Fly from Nairobi’s domestic Wilson airport to the airstrips at either Nanyuki or Loisaba and then 2 hour 4WD journey or fly directly to Ol Lentille’s airstrip which is only a short 15 minute drive way. Private air charters can land on its own airstrip.
